None of the cars I own have the ability to haul anything or anybody with enough gusto. Enter; the 1966 Ford Country Squire:
There’s one for sale in the neighborhood of $4000 CAD, with some crappy paint, but a new red interior. What does Oppo think? Too much money or just enough?

the dollar per kg ratio of this thing is pretty good.
If there isn’t too much rust underneath, I’d say go for it.

YES

Yeah it’s about a dollar a pound!

Those wheels make me wonder what’s under the hood...

$4k candybucks - depends on condition, but very likely just enough. That’s my more dispassionate response. My more FERD and stacked-headlight and Squire aficionado response involves ripping off my shirt and acting like Ric Flair for about ten minutes.

Yeah mine is just a 289, this could be a little hotter.
![]() 12/05/2016 at 17:13 |

only if you paint it teal and bag it

what engine is in it? How is the ‘’wood’’ on the side?
A Country Squire that hasn’t rusted to hell in Canada is pretty rare nowadays... Except in BC.

Apparently very little rust, the pics on the ad were taken from a roller coaster so they’re very blurry.

Screw big wagons, you need a Fiat 500 Wagon.

I knew a guy who had one of these with a 428 CobraJet (or similar) engine from the factory. Thing scooted.

Ric Flair? You date yourself.

Go for it. We need material for a new episode.

I’m only 31, but my pop culture absorbtion spans many decades.

I can dig it

I need to fit more than 1 guitar in it though!

The wood looks ok, I don’t really care about the wood condition. It has a 289.

Don’t worry we’ve got plenty planned!

Tie a hooker to the roof and they could hold it.

The quality of your writing does as well. I have twenty years on you and Ric Flair was big when I was in the 7th grade.

As long as it’s not a rust-bucket, it sounds like a fair price. I’m trying to sell the Roadmaster, but I reckon that’s too new and modern for you ;)

Paint it bag and steal it.
Got it

OH SHIT. I don’t know what that is in Goose feathers

A little too new :) Apparently it’s rust free!

Payable in Beaver tails.
![]() 12/05/2016 at 19:11 |

Ha, if it was rust free, I wouldn’t be trying to sell it.

But how bad....
![]() 12/05/2016 at 19:22 |

That’ll cost extra

This bad.

My kid sits in this car, so no.

I’m pretty sure I’ve seen that squire you’re talking about. I have a much more exciting wagon for you if you’re willing to spend a little more. 1980 Malibu, 350 with a 5-speed manual and a posi. Just a few hours away from the Ford!

Rust? also how long term are you planning on owning?
If no rust I say definetly. Paint is damned expensive but if the body is solid you can hot rod it and spray bomb it.

I’ll get my welder!

Apparently this baby is mint. I would probably keep it forever, I’ve always envisioned myself carting my children around in a 50s or 60s wagon. I’ve done some painting before too, so if I really wanted it nice I could probably bring it back.

That is a great price to beat all great prices then. For that money, the fact it has a decent body means even if the original engine or tranny goes kaput, you are still in the black. I say do it.

You’re all such terrible influences and you’re costing me money! Please continue!
